We are looking for passionate and motivated people to support disabled adults out in the community to access activities and have fun whilst promoting independence and empowering them to achieve what they want to achieve.

CEDA is a charity based in Exeter. We support disabled children, young people and adults to work towards outcomes, have new experiences and develop meaningful relationships. We are a friendly and vibrant organisation, responding to the needs or those we support. We are passionate that the people we support have the same rights, opportunities and quality of life as everyone else.

THE ROLE:

Community Engagement: Working with adults in the community, supporting them to achieve their goals, access a variety of activities according to their likes and interests and promote their engagement in their community. Activities recently accessed include: sailing, beach trips, aquarium, walks, horse-riding, sensory sessions, bowling, swimming and fishing.  You would be as passionate as we are about bringing increased choice and opportunity to the lives of those we support. You would also need to be reliable, flexible and able to think on your feet.

THE HOURS:

The vast majority of work is between 9:00-4:30 on weekdays, although a small amount of evening and/or weekend working may be required. As far as possible, shift patterns are similar each week to provide continuity for the people we support and for our enablers but some flexibility will be needed. The starting salary is £10.64, rising up to a potential of £11.75 when assessed against our values based framework. The salary range is based upon 37 hours per week. Contracts are usually offered at 30 hours per week which can be negotiated with additional options to increase amount of hours worked with longer shifts. Part-time will also be considered.

Our values are our foundation beliefs and create a culture within CEDA which say how we want our employees to act:

Person centred ethos – always listening to the user and supporting them to create a life that suits them

Treating everyone with dignity and respect – regardless of each person’s background, disabilities, difficulties and personal preferences

Empowering people – supporting people to identify, set and achieve personal goals

A diverse range of experiences and activities – to bring new experiences to people’s lives

Can do attitude - finding creative solutions in difficult situations

Friendships – being friendly, approachable and interested
